Sheila Fischman

  • She has translated from French to English some 150 novels of Quebec writers, including: Lise Bissonnette, Marie-Claire Blais, Roch Carrier, Christiane Frenette, Francois Gravel, Anne Hebert, Helen beautiful, Major Andre, Jacques Poulin, Monique Proulx Gaetan Soucy, Larry Tremblay, Michel Tremblay, Elise Turcotte.
  • Winner in 1974 and 1984 of the Translation Award of the Arts Council of Canada; finalist, Governor General's Award for French-to-English Translation (1990 to 1996, 1998, from 2000 to 2002, 2010), winner of the "Felix-Antoine Savard Translation Prize "(awarded by the Translation Center, Columbia University, New York), 1989, 1990, winner of international prize" INNY " for translation, 1998; winner, Governor General's Literary Award for French-to-English Translation, 1998 (for Bambi and me, translation of Les vues animées by Michel Tremblay), 2008 recipient of the Molson Prize in the Arts.
